German Wire-Haired Pointer
In its native country the German Wire-haired Pointer is known as the Drahthaar (literally translated, this means 'wire haired'). It is perhaps more spirited and aggressive than its fellow pointers with stronger guarding Instincts and a hardy physique. It is an excellent gundog.
Origin and history
The German Wire-haired Pointer is identical to the Short-haired except in coat. There are, however, some differences in background, and although the English Pointer undoubtedly contributed to its development, the Wire-haired was also derived from other hunting breeds. It is mentioned In German medieval documents.
